they swear every nikka on the mic back then holds significant weight and i know deep down they don't feel like that forreal. i consider myself a true spectator of the sport. the term hip hop head is kind've overused and doesn't mean anything. i can't act like i even cared about alot of these nikkas from back then. some i listen to and appreciate....others i just give a nod to and keep it moving.

Because it's easier to value the past than the present.

This exactly.. This is why the terms "underrated" & "slept on" are so overused. People find it easier to look at what was in the past than look at what is good now. They act as if there weren't wack acts in the 90's too.....like MC Hammer & Vanilla Ice aren't wack.

This thread topic is pretty vague imo. What exactly do you mean "act like they care?" Are you saying these people act like they're huge fans of every single rap artist from the 90's?

I would consider myself someone who will be much more open to listening to anyone from the golden era, because even the less popular/less known/underground dudes from then shyt on the most popular/best artists today. But I don't go around trying to hype up all these lesser known/less popular 90's dudes.

For me, I like the older stuff cuz its not overdone and commercial sounding

even the old popular stuff like snoop and da brat still sounds like hiphop

nowadays its all overdone

plus I make music and feel I am better than alot of dudes old and new

so my perspective is twisted

The old stuff had a sound to it

wasnt overly loud like now
