The year 3030
Cause most studios send'em out to third party companies to cut'em..and they do a terrible job...I remember when Terminator Genysis dropped, the director was like :dwillhuh: cause it spoiled all that shyt he wanted to keep downlow

BvS was a prime culprit of this, showed way too much and had too many trailers (3 total)! BvS teaser was perfect and the first full trailer was enough, third started giving away the whole damn film!

All you need is a teaser and then one full trailer and you're golden.

I think some of it has to be the "dumbing down" mantra Hollywood has embraced. Many people don't go to movies to be moved, emotionally, or thrilled, it's just a two hour time waster in luxury seats, the fat of American capitalism and laziness dripping from the butter in the popcorn. The trailers incessant need to show the ENTIRE three act structure down to the finale is absurd. I go to the movie so often I have to see the trailers, but I'd rather not, most of the time.

I think that's why a movie like Gone Girl or Get Out got great reviews. They give you the general plot but no details.

A lot of other movies are slaves to the first 2 week box office receipts.
