Is it just the rings? I was too young to really take in the bulls teams back in their day but as far as watching the Lakers it didnt ever seem like Phil Jackson was that phenomenal with in-game decision-making or getting the best out of his players. Yea he had the triangle or whatever but he wasnt even the creator was he? He always seemed like just an over-glorified, well-respected manager of the players on the Lakers.
You look at Popovich though and you see exactly what the importance of coaching is. The inbounding plays, the zone, the screens, the picks etc etc. This guy is a master building a system where everybody can benefit. Put Leonard or Dejuan Blair back then on the Raptors or even a team like Utah and hes an average player. But with Popovich you'd swear that Leonard has next when everyone retires.
So what is it? Why does Phil Jackson get more love than Greg?
Neg train from LWO coming in 3...2.......

The good stuff happens on the clipboard and in player development. Which is where it matters most, I guess.
