Because most people only think about the note and insurance.

I tried to talk my goofy ass nephew out of buying a 2008 Bmw 325i. Didn't work, he banged out 3 months later and come to find out he only had liability insurance, meanwhile he was still paying a note on it.
Didn't think you could get liability with a note

I have no idea. I get cheap cars that I can afford to fix and maintain.
I bought a BMW years ago. It was reliable but maintenance was expensive. It was an older BMW and I regularly replaced the cap and rotor. That was not super expensive, but it cost a couple times more than if you had to replace an American car's cap and rotor. I haven't owned a BMW since.
I was looking at some nice used C-class Mercedes-Benz sedans not too long ago, but then I looked at the prices of parts that break down, and it was like I would have to donate blood for a couple months for the extra cash. I opted to get a Japanese car.

If you buy a new or certified-used luxury car, you should get bumper-to-bumper warranty coverage for as long as you own the car, or else repair costs are going to put you in the poor house. When something breaks down and they give you a repair estimate that is over $3,000, how do you feel?
