Why do people hate on John Calipari and one and dones?

First of all, he recruits the exact same players that every other top coach does. More just accept his offer. He's the best recruiter in NCAA history. It's true.

But besides that misguided hate towards John for simply following the rules set in front of him, why should you hate? I understand it's more fun sometimes to see competitive games. But at the college level....I dunno. Its a lot of mediocre play by mediocre players. I've really gotten into the NBA this year and its hard for me to pick a decent college game vs a decent NBA game now. I just cant watch that level of basketball.

But the pure talent And management of that talent at UK....just wow. Cal has them playing some goddamn energetic and entertaining basketball. Just enjoy the greatness. Not saying this team or any Cal team specifically will be legendary. But he's really not doing anything anybody else would do if they could. And other teams still get 2-3 top players at a time.

For some reason they just aren't as good every year as UK.

Plus UK has a number of talented upperclasmen now. People have no clue how big of a deal that's gonna continue to be.

Part of the hate on one and dones, is that they've lowered the quality of college basketball... because none of them are staying long enough to actually develop/refine their games before jumping to the pro level, cause the money is calling.

im sure you can understand why college basketball enthusiasts would feel some kind of way about seeing countless 1 or 2 year mercenaries, there just to focus on their draft stock...not much else. Not becoming fully apart of the college lifestyle...just there cause they have to be, not cause they truly want to be.

One and dones have made college basketball unwatchable for me. John is a helluva coach though to consistently get basically a brand new team every year and stay competitive, rather they be the nations top recruits or not.

That's comparing apples to oranges if the rest of those students could go pro early and get large contracts early instead of going all 4 years they should....but they can't as college is more of a check the blocks process to get ahead in the rat race.
