Right, well I've just done a bit of a scientific experiment. A test. I ate both from McDonald's and from Hungry Jack's (Burger King).
I woke up mid-sleep last night because I got hungry, around 1am. I couldn't be bothered to cook anything that late, and the only thing open was McDonald's. So out of desperation I drove down there and picked up a triple cheeseburger and large chips.
The burger was average. Much smaller than I had expected it to be. How small are the damn beef patties that three of them together look like basically one regular patty?

Very disappointing. It didn't taste too bad though and it did fill my stomach somewhat.
The chips were pretty good. A little salty, but solid. I was satisfied with them.
So 4/10 for the burger, 7.5/10 for the side, I give McDonald's 11.5/20 or a 57.5% score. That's a pass. Honestly better than I expected.
12 hours later, I'm at my office and I didnt bring anything from home. So I got Hungry Jack's for lunch. Grillmasters Chicago Angus burger, large chips, regular onion rings.
The burger was absolute piff!

Beef patty - single beef patty, which was as big as the triple I got from McDonald's last night - bacon slice, cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, and the most excellent peppercorn sauce. God that sauce was amazing. The vegetables were fairly fresh, the beef and bacon were well cooked. The buns were steamed and tasted great. Overall it was an excellent fast food burger, I was very happy with it.
The sides now. I normally like the onion rings a lot, they're usually my favourite menu item. But today they were poor. Overcooked. They're too crispy, burnt almost. And the flavour wasn't there. Hungry Jack's onion rings normally have a spicy taste. But today it had a sweet sort of taste. I was disappointed.
As for the chips, they were downright appalling, inedible

I didn't finish them, I threw it away. It tasted like cardboard. I swear they must have used like supermarket brand frozen chips, thrown them into an oven and then sold them. That was not deep fried chips.
So the score for Hungry Jack's/Burger King is: burger 9.5/10, sides 2.5/10, for 12/20 or 60% overall.
So it was actually closer between the two outlets than I thought it would be. But to be fair I got two sides from Hungry Jack's and only one side from McDonald's. The one side from the second joint was great. But what if I had gotten something else as well, and that had sucked. McDonald's probably only got so close because I ordered less food and less of their menu items. Therefore there was less chance of them fukking something up.
That being said, I am magnanimous enough to concede when I am wrong. I will say that the chips at McDonald's are pretty damn good

but as for the burgers there is no contest at all, Hungry Jack's is way ahead and McDonald's burgers are not only ordinary in taste but they also rip you off in portion size.
