i'venever bartended or served before, but i know multiple people who were making 'good' money just servign or bartending. let's say 400 plus a weekend.

why do so many of them stop then?

is i t really that stressful or are athey making more elsewhere? (these are dumb people btw)

also why did i or anyone ever throw boxes if thye can make triple that just on weekends?

i don't frequent bars. But i've worked around a lot of bartenders in clubs.

From what i've seen A LOT of bartenders get fired for stealing cash, stealing drinks, or giving away free drinks.

Working in the club is like a sought after job, so most club owners practice nepotism. If you don't know someone i imagine its hard to just find another job (i don't bartend tho so i can't say for sure)

it can be dangerous.

Hours are bad if you wanna live any kind of normal life

that night life wears thin on them after a while most likely. one of my boys worked as a bartender for a long time... working those hours isn't for everyone. I'm sure being in super smokey environments every night, dealing with drunks, seeing fights and hearing booming music gets tiring eventually. Plus, you don't want to get in a situation to where you work at bars so long that you are stuck in the bar life because you don't have any experience working anywhere else.

You can't bartend the rest of your life that's why. And you get used to the hours.
Waking up late mornings or afternoon:blessed: cause you work in the evenings

I know this thread really has to do with the fact you want to bartend based on the other thread you had.
If you have the opportunity do it. It's good money, no taxes and it's interesting. Stop over thinking. Whatever happens happens. Your circumstances will spell themselves out. You'll see for yourself how long you'll stay or go.
I think what gets people out eventually is wanting to do something more professional or stable. Some fail some succeed. So you prep for that while you bartend for what you want to do next. But in your 20s bartending is cool if you have the chance. Cash every day no need to wait for a check. I mean I'd get checks too but id bank them belatedly cause they were a btw

Yeah @Mowgli I see this dude psyching himself out of pursuing bartending gigs. He's doing his due diligence on whether to take courses what happens next etc which is good. But you cross those bridges as you go.

I don't even think @Monster had an offer yet so I'd focus and prioritize more on that before something that happens way down the line

Dealing with drunk people and weirdos all night probably weighs on a person's soul
No it doesn't. I've bartended. Haven't seen that happen to other bartenders or thought that myself. Most places will protect the staff over some a$$hole. Plus being the bartender you are legally obligated to cut people off if they're drunk. So you can literally tell someone they wont get any more drinks that night while being in your bar if they're being erratic or drunk
