society advances from generation to generation, in ways that make life significantly easier. This affects appearance. Life is less labor intensive for generations that follow. Thats why a century ago, people in their 20s looked like they were in their 50s. Pretty much every activity in life involved tremendous effort, generally outdoors, which degrades features rapidly.
