Why do some people want aliens to be real so bad?

I won't say I want them to be real so bad. But I think it's moronic to think we're the only intelligent life when you think about it from a logical standpoint. Most folks I know who fear it are folks who are super religious. It's really kind of funny how folks expose how fickle their faith is by being insecure about every and anything that might shake it a bit.

Of course, if they are intelligent and exist, they could take one look at how we have allowed religion and race to put us in such a mental bind even to this day and decide we aren't worth keeping alive.

Why are you generalizing all religious people as ignorant, blindly following zealots? I don't see what the existence of aliens has to do with religion. Anyone who makes that connection is clearly lacking understanding of something. I guess this is the result of teaching people that God is a man.

Some people see Aliens as their only hope. Aliens would have mastered long distance space travel. They may have answers for time travel, multiverses, extending our lives by hundreds of years, cures for diseases and things we never thought of with our limited mental capacity. Right now we are controlled by the rich and powerful people at the top. They only allow the news to tell us certain things. Aliens couldn't be bribed into hiding the truth from us.
