Why do us black people suffer from the crabs in a barrel syndrome?

Whenever we see someone that is the underdog that is on a gradual rise, we praise him. But whenever that same person finally becomes a very successful icon to the point where white people recognize him, we label him as a sellout, talk shyt, wish for his downfall, etc.

Like this, a little boy is smart and talented with potential to make it, the hood praises him. 25 years later, that same boy comes back in a 2018 Benz, well groomed, fly clothes, and a black card and gets robbed by the same nikkas that praised him as a little boy.

Can anyone explain why?

The Truth
I think it’s more referred to the crab in the barrel mentality

I notice a lot of black people have it. A nikka can’t fukk who he wants, live where he wants, do for himself what he wants, create what he wants, etc., without crabs wanting to either downtalk, steal, or sabotage

And don’t get it twisted, some other races MIGHT try to do the same thing but it’s 10x’s worse when it’s your own people

I think this is generalized male behavior
yup we are competitors by nature

aside from physical violence subtle sabotage is a weapon of choice

the less dominant of a position a person or group occupies the more likely they are to trip

explaining why broke.folk are the most likely to trip.out

Jealousy.
Primarily why after I left the projects and ny behind...I never went back.
Went back once or twice unannounced to visit a friend and was strapped the whole time.
Wasn't tryna become a statistic of the pjs.

You can't expect the same people you came up with to celebrate your success...especially when they ain't made it an inch higher than when you last saw em 20 years ago.

I agree with this outside of I think all races do it. I think we just pay attention to our own race more and somethings might be a little different. I don't think some white person who makes it from the trailer park is going to have to hear about helping random whites just because like you will hear from some blacks of a person that made it out. Things like that are different IMO but overall crabs are crabs and they exist in every race.

All of humanity are metaphorical crabs living in a metaphorical bucket. This idea that black people are somehow more prone to tearing each other down is more social conditioning from a society designed to devalue people of darker skin tone.

People in general ain't shyt fr. If someone is happy and you're not, but you still have to deal with them then you're not simply going to be happy for the person. The best you can offer is a false compliment. If you know them and like them then you might be genuinely happy for them, unless their happiness comes at the cost or somehow interferes with your own happiness.

Self-interest is the reality of human nature and managing this fact is the essence of life.

Until very modern history (last ~100-200 or so years), humans had to compete for limited resources as a life or death matter. Thus, naturally, overabundance is perceived as a threat on a primal level.
