Why do we as a society care more about animals than humans?

We really care more about animals than human life and it's sickening.
Even when you see snuff films and the comments are like
"Did you see how he was twitching? Great!"
"It was alright, but it needed more blood"
"Man the way he was gargling when that knife went into his neck? Made me hard"
Not to fukking mention every black person who has been innocently killed by the police over these past few years.

Then you see some video with a guy kicking a kitten in the air
"This is truly disturbing. I can't stomach this"
"I swear I wish I knew where he lived. I'd kill him"
"I can't believe anybody would do something this horrible"

I've always thought it was because people think all animals are innocent, even if they've killed people, because they only do it to defend themselves/because they're scared. While they think that people are "evil" and selfish so they don't care what happens to them.

I like humans and animals equally, kicking a kitten is messed up & kicking a person is messed up.
