I think the issue wouldn't be that Kyrie and Love aren't great defenders

I think Kyrie and Love together would up the pace of the Cavs which would play into the hands of GSW.

With the lineups they have right now, they're basically doing what Memphis didn't do much of. Play a slow, grind it out pace, try to win the rebounding, and provide just enough floor spacing at times to go on a run.

The Cavs are in these games because they are squeezing the rock and playing elite defense.

This wouldn't be possible with love and Kyrie getting minutes

Either way we would rather be at full strength whilst we had to change the game plan to fit the rest of the team we still would be more capable with the full extent of our weapons..
