Lets be real....our community has issues with skin color, etc. due to slavery and living in a country that adheres to European standards of beauty. That shyt trickled down generations and we still use terms like good hair, pretty eyes, etc. which can be unhealthy for our self-esteem, etc. Looking at posting on this site and how some of us act in real life...sometimes I do wonder if an average light skin person gets more attention and play over the average dark skinned person.

And we all know women generally prefer men with an "edge" to them. Sometimes women don't want a man that's too straight laced, square, boring, stable, predictable, etc. That can come off as lame and unexciting. The thing is...that those men who are deemed those traits should find a woman who is cool with that and matches up well with him. Sometimes women been thru so much whereas she would appreciate a man who is straight laced, stable and predictable. Find ur lane and go from there.

Because as a community we hold our men to a MUCH higher emotional standard than our women.

When a black man gets clowned, or cheated on, or has self esteem issues we say get over it. Get your swag up. Get your money up. This creates a bitter cycle where our men become driven to pursure things that make them feel valuable to others without considering what makes them actually happy and content.

This is true. Like all races of women, black women like charismatic, good looking men who are confident.

The pitfall is that...black women are taught to look for that in the wrong ways.

So, at a young age the kid who can fight or acts up in class is more confident than the kid who has the highest test scores.

The kid who starts selling dope at 14 and buys his first car at 16 or can ball is more confident than the kid who doesn't get his first job until 16 or isn't very athletic.

Its not that they're chasing "hood" dudes or "thugs." They're chasing charisma and confidence. And when it doesn't work what do we tell them? "Girl don't settle you deserve the best!" So they keep chasing those dudes.
