Why Do You Think Americans Have To Remake Everything?

the most amount of stuff that gets remade is british though, so i'm not completely sold on the whole subtitles thing

why remake something when they share a common language?

also I think america is actually one of the most accepting countries when it comes to reading subtitles. if you want to see true laziness go to countries like russia or germany where they dub EVERYTHING. they dont even bother with subtitles

like @Wild self said, it all comes down to most American studios just being uncreative and not wanting to make new stories of their own. plus very few Americans actually care to watch foreign films, whether it shares a language or not. you have films coming from other countries that are huge blockbusters, but they'll probably only get screened at arthouse theatres.

I never said anything about anyone copying anything. I was just wondering why america can't take something as it is. american shows are shown overseas and they happily take it as it is. why do the powers that be always have to rebrand something for the american audience? do they just not trust their own market when dealing with a foreign product or is it something deeper within american society?

The same way bollywood blatantly rips of American movies and series without giving any credit to the original

Have you thought about most countries dont have the ability to completely re-adapt shows like they do in the US
Have you thought about the costs and time it would take to re-adapt a show for another country/language
Have you thought about how most countries are too poor to even have thier own original shows let alone recreate shows?

what about britain? they don't remake our shows but they certainly have the capital to do so. they take it as it is.

Man vs World/Society
Man vs Self

Etc.. Cylcle and rehash ,as long as its entertaining idgaf
