Big L is an NY staple. Outside of New York, nobody really sees anything cool or respectable culturally from him as a rapper or personality.

8Ball and MJG would be a better example of who is respected in the rest of the country vs. NY to make a comparison of why nobody gives a fukk about Big L.

I've seen a quite a few posts of members hating on Big L...

Why is that? He was definetly a great rapper and lyricist, not top 5 but still deseves some credit..

I think he gets plenty of respect and credit it's just that the stand blow him out of proportion. Yeah he was dope but some people take it too far and act like he's top 3 all time or something

Idk brah. I always see people on here calling him overrated. L is one of the dopest MCs ever and he's in my top 5. I still get excited to hear some of his verses even after I've listened to them a hundred times because he came up with the wittiest punchlines that will have your mind blown. Dude took Lord Finesse's style and took it to a whole 'bother level.

And for those that say he's just a punchline rapper, y'all trippin. Nikka was one of the nicest storytellers in the game.

Multisyllables?

Is an understatement. The guy was damn near rhyming whole sentences.

I flows, so one of my shows, wouldn't be clever to miss
I'm leavin competitors pissed
To tell you the truth, it gets no better than this

I've got no problem with people sweating him cuz he's a good technical rapper. Me personally, I do appreciate the technical Aspect he brings but that's only part of the equation for being a dope emcee (granted it's a very big part)

I think it depends on whether you felt the impact or not,

Alotta artists get hate cause the listener didn't experience their run

I haven't experienced ANY rappers run's other than the current rappers. I didn't even think about whether Big L had an impact or not, I was talking about his skill as an MC
