Tons of people needed. This adds on wages and hours. Not easy to learn some of the software used in making CGI so you need educated people.

expensive computer hardware needed, need huge computer farms to process all those effects.

Expensive software also needed, shyt ain't cheap, especially state of the art.

Single frames take hours/days/weeks to process mattering on the quality and length and how many computers are involved in the processing. Also take into account all the art, audio and designing that is undertaken before someone even uses cgi software.

You can do unimaginable things with CGI but it's also time consuming and extremely expensive especially high quality cgi seen in Hollywood blockbusters.

This is just the basic gist of it, it's tons more stuff.

CGI is dumb expensive because the better it is, the more it costs.... :yeshrug: you know how much computer power they're using to make objects look seamless like it's actually there...

Look at that LOTR trilogy.... :damn: the special effects team killed it, especially during the close ups of the monsters faces. Gollum and the witch king...

A lot of movies have shytty CGI.

I watch a lot of old movies pre-CGI and it puts you in a world, but a lot of that shyt was terrible (stop motion, bad animatronics etc...) most CGI feels way to cartoonish. They stepped it up the last couple years though.

I remember I was hating on the 1st Avengers flick because I thought The Hulk looked too fake, but in the movie he actually looks pretty good I was impressed. Also was impressed with Rocket in GOTG I thought wouldn't work either but they pulled it off pretty well.

I think Transformers are done pretty good, but the movies suck though, see director.

the eyes maybe but everything else nah.

shame PJ went full CGI on the dreadful hobbit trilogy :scust:

Yeah.... :francis:

I believe PJ was just burning out and getting lazy.... Azog the Defiler should have been a full blown human in makeup instead of Mo-Cap....:usure:

Without cgi a lot of these blockbuster summer films wouldn't be possible.:yeshrug:

Its 50/50 back in the days a good blockbuster movie was not so dependant on CGI IE die hard and nightmare on elm street, most of the stuff was just plain animatronics/wirework and practical effects... :yeshrug:

Look at Aliens, James Cameron used the same 6 alien suits for the live shots to cut down on money costs... :heh:

But alas we dont have many good filmmakers with those eyes for details... they have grown to dependant on computers for alot of basic shyt. :manny:
