If Dolan and Phil aren't doing much to keep him around, this is on them.
These players supposed to make the best decisions for them.

I think it moreso the impression that it's becoming harder and harder to root for a specific team, year-in-and-out. The superstars are rotating doors and not in a way where "they tried, gave it their all and now it's time to go in a different direction"; or a "they are becoming a superstar so they need their own team to develop"; it's more so "I want to play over there now; the grass is greener".

Melo coulda been a free agent in 2011 but he forced the Knicks to make that dumbass trade, that's his fault honestly

When people know their team isn't gonna try to get a marquee free agent, they end up venting against the players.

They have to hope against free agency so their management doesn't get exposed for not even trying. They love sticking up for the suits and bashing the players.
