Why Does Hollywood Cast So Many Brits/Aussies As Americans Nowadays?

are there ANY american actors anymore?


whenever I see a new TV show or Hollywood movie and check imdb its always some brit or aussie playing americans in lead roles. what's up with that?

are brits/aussies just better at acting american than americans can? :laugh: shyt is absurd

I think the Aussie thing applies mostly, but not exclusively, to the CW (and ABC to a lesser extent).

I think it's because they churn out pretty/handsome Cali types like a factory, but because of where they're coming from, they come at a discount.

A little of that, but they are also more refined actors. Hell even a lot of black actors are from the UK and they are way more scarce than from here and yet they beat the odds to take roles that would go to black american actors.

It's definitely not due to talent that for sure cuz for the longest time dating back to the late 90s you could count the brits on one hand while movies were hiring more aussies and Australia was becoming the go to destination for shoots. It wasn't until 2010 or so that Hollywood remembered brits existed again now you can't see a movie without at least 1. I think all that theatre background malarkey is a bunch of shyte, it's most likely monetary or something to do with evading union laws

Australian and British are vastly different. Australian's aren't great, but they're decent actors and look really good.

Brits are probably the better of the three (Brit, American, Aussie), but I don't subscribe to it as a rule like any Brit > any American.

I think it's because in England, learning to act is more about doing plays on plays on plays. In America, an actor/actress of the same age is trying to find an agent and auditioning for a role on The Vampire Diaries before they've honed their craft.

England doesn't have a version of CW where 16-24 year olds can grind out careers based on looks. There aren't many "young" shows compared to the states, so they bide their time, learn their craft, and emerge later.
