Why does it seem like the rest of the world is so pressed about Americans not liking soccer?

Soccer was around longer plus logistically it’s just easier to play. You literally just need a round object to kick around and you can make goals out of anything. The sport is accessible to even the poorest kid in the poorest country. Football and baseball need special equipment plus a ton of other bodies to play with. Basketball you need a ball that is bounceable and the goals are a bit trickier to set up.
soccer spread around the world within the first 50 years of it's inception

football and baseball have been around waaay longer than it took soccer to spread globally

so longevity has nothing to do with it

as far as the lack of equipment being the reason, so why is cricket waaay bigger than american football and baseball? why is tennis more popular than nfl?

and also, rugby is just as big as basketball globally. if lack of equipment was the reason, than why isn't mma bigger?

lots of juelzing, but atleast you finally admit that soccer is the WORLD sport and that Brits defined the sport that heals the world :blessed:

football and baseball suck

terrible products, in terms of viewership. just nothing but stops and plays. probably 20 minutes in total combine both sports duration in play. That is why the globe has ignored both products for a century

So

So how come the world hasn't followed football or baseball, but yet follow basketball, a Canadian sport?

This kid say such silly things:dead:
Because basketball, soccer( and hockey btw) are free flowing, fluid sports where action is continuous and fast paced. The structure, rules and pace of play for all three sports are similar and that’s why hockey and basketball despite being created in North America are popular sports overseas. Because they share many things in common with soccer .

Football and baseball are pure slow, stop and start sports. Football and baseball are based on anticipation and suspense while basketball, soccer and hockey are based on fast paced, fluid, free flowing action. In football and baseball, teams go on Offense one set of 4 downs/one half inning and then go play defense the next 4 downs/next half inning) they take turns and alternate while soccer/basketball/hockey teams play both offense and defense all game at the same time.

Football and baseball rely much more on statistics than the other three. In basketball, hockey and soccer advanced stats can’t accurately explain everything. You have to watch the game and pay attention to the performances of the players. The eye test is more needed there unlike in baseball or football.

Culturally, the sports of basketball and hockey are exportable to other countries and continents and are soccer compatible. Soccer fans can understand and appreciate both of these sports as they share many things in common with soccer.

Baseball and football are pure North American sports tailored to the peculiar specificities of North American media, history and culture

The rest of the world doesnt want and need football/baseball anyway they already have rugby and cricket

I think you are seeing this because of a response that some Americans, whether they truly believe it or are trolling, that the Super Bowl is bigger than the World Cup. Now clearly it isn’t and it never will be. But that isn’t stopping them from responding to that and they’re going to take shots at the NFL with every chance they get.

It also isn’t just soccer fans but other sports fans are joining in such as cricket and rugby fans. Many outside the country think our football is soft rugby even though they deviated from each other to the point that they aren’t even that similar.

Personally think it’s a waste of time on getting to expand our football for many reasons. The global community hates ads, hate the stop and start action, and hate that we actually call it football.

Where the avg male weighs 150lbscan compete against a middle school team

Imagine an Asian or Indian or Chinese football team :heh:
American football is actually fairly popular in Japan. I can watch the Super Bowl here on tv no problem and there are actual college teams and a pro league.

Baseball is popular in Japan, South Korea, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Mexico and Canada. I forgot that. And the world baseball classic will be played next march.

In Europe, Africa, the rest of Asia, India, Pakistan, Brazil and the rest of Latin America nobody cares about baseball.

American gridiron football is popular in Canada and the United States. But it’s the first time I learn that Japan loves this sport too.

Cricket is only popular in former British colonies. The vast majority of crickets popularity stems from India and Pakistan. Outside of those two countries and the Indian diaspora it’s non-existent.

Rugby is no where near as popular as basketball.

Basketball is arguably the number 1 sport in China.

Steph Curry and LeBron can show up anywhere in the world and be mobbed. Who’s the best Rugby player in the world? How much merch do they sell?

Rugby players pulling crowds like this?

Your entire waking life is defined by American culture. You’re typing on an American website, primarily based on American culture, American music, American sports, on an American phone, and Trump could kidnap your leader in the middle of the night and the rest of the world would shrug its shoulders and host the World Cup in America and give him a medal for the trouble.

But yeah you got the “world” sport :laff:

They don't. Gridiron football is very niche in Japan lol. Only the US & Canada (and to some extent Mexico) care about gridiron football.

In every other country, gridiron football is either completely irrelevant or has a niche following (but nothing more than that).

Low-key, the name Football hurts the sport. A lot of international people hate the word soccer and take offense to America using their sport's name.
Funnily enough, the word "soccer" originates from England.

Both soccer (officially named "association football") and rugby (officially named "rugby football") were popularized in England around the same time in the mid-to-late 1800s. Since both sports had "football" in their name, some Oxford students added the "-er" suffix to "assoc" (from association) to get "soccer" and they also shortened "rugby" to "rugger".

British people just stopped calling it "soccer" over time and are now mad at Americans for something they did lol

"Cricket is only popular in British colony"
These British Colonies were half of the world and is still more popular than baseball. No, not just in India and south Asia, it's more popular than baseball in all European, African and Asian countries besides Japan. So yeah, this is more eyes watching than baseball. Baseball is only popular in America, latino Caribbean countries and Japan. It's just as old as cricket and still not anywhere near the reach
I agree, basketball probably has the edge on rugby
But it's soccer>cricket>basketball>rugby in terms of world sports.
As for all that other tangent you wrote, its irrelevant because we are talking about sports and Britain has define the global sport culture:yeshrug:
You can take your gossip and who make what hip to the locker room

Don’t nobody play cricket outside of England, South Africa, Australia, India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. fukk outta here :mjlol:

Like I said the majority of crickets popularity is concentrated in India and Pakistan. There’s a reason baseball has been played at the Olympics and Cricket hasn’t.

The New York Yankees and LA Dodgers are world famous. Does cricket even have a league :russ:

Imagine arguing for a completely swagless
sport like cricket because a bunch of Indians decided it was the only sport they were ever going to be good at :scust:

Probably :skip:

Allen Iverson been retired 15 years and still got more world wide movement than any cricket or Rugby player.

This dude could walk through Beijing or Rio and nobody would even look up to their phone

"there is a reason baseball is played the Olympics"....

:gucci:
is there a reason why pin pong and target shooting are also in the Olympics too?
Look at God

You guys are insane, the things you all would pull out off a hat just to win an argument. just give up. no serious, unbias person is saying baseball is more popular than cricket besides maga.

cricket is more imposing and is a bigger culture than baseball in all european countries, all african countries and more asian countries like all of south asia. only 1 or 2 countries in asia care about baseball
i've already said basketball is bigger than rugby

you bringing up sports franchise value strictly has to do with how much purse and purchasing power the average american has. How is this relevant to who watches and plays American sports compared to soccer? no soccer team is on that list and yet a midtable team like Tottenham gets more world views and eyes on them than anytime in baseball and nfl

this man is more recognizable globally than Otani despite Dodger being worth more

Table tennis boasts a massive global following, with major events reaching a cumulative broadcast audience of over 1 billion, particularly driven by high viewership in Asia. The 2023 ITTF World Championships recorded over 1 billion viewers, while the 2025 WTT series delivered a 3 billion cumulative audience.

Keep in mind this is the same dumbass argument you use for why Cricket is popular. :mjlol:

Nobody cares about cricket in Europe outside of England. Nobody cares about cricket in Europe outside of South Africa. Absolutely nobody cares about cricket in East Asia. :mjlol:

You have Pakistan, India and Bangladesh.

Just like in baseball you have Korea, Japan and Taiwan.

The only difference is population of each country.

Cricket is a fraud. :mjlol: Literally only Indians and their diaspora that follow it.

Awful swagless sport :scust:

Nope I was comparing it to cricket. And it’s the purchasing power of Americans, Mexicans, Japanese, Koreans, Colombians, Taiwanese, Dominicans etc.

Supposedly Crickets gets a billion views but has zero financial presence on the world market. Yeah sure. :russ: It’s a fraud sport. Entirely claimed popularity online is fraudulent. Hell I don’t even think it’s popular in the UK. I have never ever in my life heard of a British person under the age of 50 talk about cricket.

Yes we are aware that soccer is the most popular sport in the world, that’s why in 20 years every fifa final is going to be played in America and every premier league team is going to be owned by Americans and Arabs. :skip:
