I'm only 22 so maybe some of you fellow coli brehs can help me but why does it seem like there aren't as many quality hip hop records or rappers out today? Nearly every rapper came out for 2013 to drop their album and the best word to describe it all is "lukewarm". NWTS was a very good album but NOT certified classic level.
I remember a thread about Reasonable Doubt and people were saying that it was a great album but there was so much stuff out there that was just as good if not better that made it hard for the album to get recognized. I can't say shyt like that now tbh. I can't imagine an era when albums like Reasonable Doubt were considered "typical" quality of the time.
Now correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like the only dudes eating now are Drake, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole as the top dogs now of the new school.
A$AP Rocky has a possibility of being the fourth man at the top but it depends on whether or not he can handle having to carry all of those fukking weed carriers in A$AP mob with him to the top.
