man I love that old triple six mafia, and this is coming from someone who used to only exclusively fukk with 90's new york shyt. honestly, a lot of these old southern records hold up better than most west coast music and a lot of east coast shyt too. you even have euro DJ's reimagining old trap and fusing it with house music to make new EDM genres and shyt, its ridiculous

why does the old trap sound hold up so well?

they werent worried about following a trend, they just did what sounded cool to them. its true all of that 93-98 Three 6 stuff still sounds good

were they on that syrup back then or did that whole syrup movement come after?

shyt i have no idea what was poppin in Memphis in the early 90's. leans been around forever tho, Philly has been big on lean since at least the mid 90's. they were def on somethin good tho

i gotta admit i didn't listen to much 3-6 growing up. but that neighborhood hoe track DEFINITELY sounds like some ASAP type shyt. at least they've always said they were inspired by that shyt...
