My barber used to cut more off my chin/face than I wanted him to so I started just telling him to leave it alone and I cut/shape it myselfcut the hair under my chin even though I told him I'm trying to grow my beard when getting a shape up.

It just take practice bro. I can't get mine as sharp as the barber but the stuff above is good for maintenance at least. I just cut a lil at a time and take my time.I wish I could give my self a line up but I don't trust my hands
I just don't get why they would cut under my chinwhat's the advantage to that

Yep. That's what I do. I get a cut like every 3 weeks and just trim my lineup every few days when it starts to grow back. Has saved me a lot of money over the past few years. I used to be at the shop every week. Week 1 = cut. Week 2 = line. Week 3 = cut etc.I heard some people that go to the barber for the initial shape up then just do their own weekly shape up following the barbers lines
would doing that be easier?
Wait What?@Dip has the right idea. get a good clean cut from your barber, and when the new growth start coming in, handle it your self.
Also, try to pay attention to how your barber cuts your hair.
Its honestly like tracing, as you start to get a feel for where you hair line should be and how it should look. Your barber already done the hard part
Im handiling my beard now, even started messing with the straight edge blade to get that clean crisp look.![]()
