I never really understood this. People are very aware of sexual abuse targeting black women and girls but for some reason Tarana Burke is public enemy number one on here. Black women who are victims of sexual violence DO NOT get the same spotlight as other victims. Tartans is fighting to change that.

She’s strong, intelligent, and built a movement to shine light on issues plaguing black women. Did cacs hijack her movement? Yes but that’s just America. I feel like we should be more supportive of our women.

You can’t call her a wench either. She’s married to a black man and has a beautiful black daughter. Tarana, if you’re reading this please keep up the good fight. The real ones support you sis.

:salute:

There’s an large portion of the black feminist movement that only views black men as abusers, oppressors, case studies (Social Workers and Psychologists with PHDs need work), and victims only when they can be use to cross reference the issues plaguing black women or LGBT communities. Heck, sometimes our deaths are only for someone to make a profit - see BLM, media that post black male death in a salacious manner to get clicks, and politicians who make empty promises

The hatred she receives and will continue to receive is because of everything I just said. By the way, just so you and I are crystal clear, this doesn’t mean I think black women don’t face horrific issues and challenges simply for being black and women, but the way some of these women do business at the expense of black men is hardly palpable.

A large number of divestors and the anti black male rhetoric on social platforms is born from rhetoric like hers.

Also, her having a black family doesn’t mean a damn thing, because a lot of c00ns today parade around as pro black on the surface but will express make micro aggressive statements against black men on the world stage

This bytch and the generalization she makes are prime examples

Not a thing you said was a critique of anything she actually said or did.

She’s hard to look at and because of that her crusade will always be from a place of envy
