I don’t agree that boys need both parents anymore than girls. There is this long standing narrative that boys need the presence of fathers more so than girls because mothers are the same sex as their daughter but I disagree.

The void of a good father/male presence is felt by both girls and boys. They just manifest it differently. But this is a narrative that needs to dead. Cause it isn’t true and there is enough evidence to back it up: oversexualized behaviour, multiple baby fathers, treating dysfunctional relationships as normal, overly territorial of a man due to fearing being abandoned, aggression/domineering or extremely naive and easily manipulated, etc...

I agree. I didn’t say that only boys need both parents though. I said kids need both parents. That includes boys and girls.

I dont hate single mothers but it's a shame the shyt is so normalized in not just the black community but America as a whole.

1) Especially if they have sons, there is something a father brings to the child that a woman can't.

2) it's hard to raise a child already. No need to make it harder and more likely dysfunctional with just one parent

It needs to be looked down upon to force society to start considering it as a not ideal way of building a family.

It's weird with a lot of dudes here. Various reasons why a woman could be a single mother. The mother and father could have been married/monogamous relationship and broke up for whatever reason so now they co-parent, father could have died so she's raising the child alone, father could have went to prison, or she along with the father were irresponsible and bringing a child into a unstable environment

Personally I wouldn't date a single mother. I'm not going to knock a brother who does, just not my thing. The hate and venom that's spewed about them in TLR is insane. Who hurt some of y'all.

I don’t hate single mothers at all. I’m just not ready or responsible enough to deal with the situation.

I Don’t make enough to be a comfortable provider for a family in NYC.

I don’t even know how to prepare to be a parent.
-How to work with the child’s father
-How to establish rules, etc
-Adapting to a kid that’s not my own



It’s just seems like it’s so much to learn in such a short time.
