erick had 1 helluva run as a producer; from epmd, to his solo albums, red's and keith murray's albums, his insomnia compilation album and then the def squad album, el nino. plus his remixes in the 90's were the shyt

nikkas done forgot, erick brought the funk to hip hop with the funk records he sampled. his beats were funky!

outside of timbaland, erick got the best drums in hip hop too

One of my favorite producers AND Mcs...i think he gets lost in the shuffle just based on how many other producers there are who might have one more hit than him or just a slight bit more influence or commercial appeal.

Ask artists who their top 10 is and i guarantee he's in a bunch of them...and if he's not i can bet an EPMD album or two are in their top 10 albums.

Its weird for me though because i stan Erick but i dont really bump no EPMD like that...i always thought PMD was kinda wack lol.

thats basically the gist of his career. he's always behind somebody. he had a Curtis Martin-esque career...No bad...but the great was usually outshined by something greater or just hotter at the moment
