Why doesn't DC have any iconic original black heroes?

Notice I said original. I mean a case may be made for Milestone but that's not really them. They don't have a black panther or storm type anywhere. Why is that?

Because they haven't made a cyborg movie yet.

Cyborg is trash. Absolute trash. fukk that character.

They should have stayed pushing the GL John Stewart. Dwayne Mcduffie wrote the BLUEPRINT on making Stewart an iconic character in Justice League/JLU

Either him or black lightning

Absolutely agree. But if any black character at dc us coming close to iconic status, it's him

i dont consider storm to be iconic, but if she is, then so is cyborg.

BP only became iconic through the movies, and as we all know, DC struggles more when it comes to movies, so they are not nearly as likely to succeed at making a black character iconic through films.

Cyborg trash ?? maaaaaaaaan foh bozos

Breh got one of the illest stories to work with.. he aint got a deep rogue gallery but to say he's trash ? smoking crack

His recent solo run was complete trash. For on issue 1 to cancellation. 1 of the worst things DC did was taking him out of TT and putting him JL. TT he’s a peer/leader. JL he’s a sidekick.

DC's top black superheroes at the moment are:

GL John Stewart
Cyborg
Mr. Terrific
Black Lightning

They seemed to be interested in giving Vixen that push for a brief moment but that seems to have ended. And I couldn't tell you what Steel is up to.

Black Panther is still a top dog in the Marvel comics universe and Miles Morales still gets shine but Marvel hasn't been pushing Luke Cage like they used to when Bendis was still there so he's not a major player anymore and honestly Storm hasn't been A level in a while either. They have made her a supporting character who really hasn't done much for a couple years now in the X-Men books.
Falcon has lost a bit of his heat too from when he was the New Captain America, leading The Avengers and at the forefront of event series.
