Why don't college coaches redshirt more freshman.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
This will kill the current trending debate on letting players enter the draft earlier to avoid injuries. If a team consistently recruits well it shouldn't matter. Redshirt players can focus on getting physically stronger and still enter the draft after two years if they want.

kids are impatient nowadays, they wanna play early, not sit behind other guys for the most part

a lot of teams sell early playing time to recruits

Then I don't what to see stories about why so and so should be able to leave early. That 3 year rule been in place forever. And if a player like Chubb gets hurt I don't want to hear about him leaving early. The media pulls stories out their ass just because. nikkas was on sports reporters saying the running back at LSU should sit out next year so he won't get hurt.

And back in the day, players wanted to play as freshman but most of them also wanted to stay for four years and get their degree. This whole generation is slow as hell. I don't understand the logic at all.

Why would I go to a school where I'm going to get redshirted?

Um to get a damn education. Um to get stronger physically, Um to cultivate proper study habits and learn to balance school and practice. If I was a coach I would tell players their education would be a priority and fukking mean it.

I think football should allow 1 and dones (not counting redshirt years) :manny:

its only 20-30 freshman players per year that would have a case for entering the NFL draft anyway

most elite talent kids have thoughts of getting to the league (not saying they all are) but why waste a season on the bench when im trying to get looked at by scouts

That will never happen. For one if a player is good enough to go pro after their freshman year, they still wouldn't be ready for the NFL and no team would waste a first round draft pick on them. If they good enough to go pro as a freshman they will probably be a first round pick when they can actually go pro.

:mjlol:

If schools were more serious about them being "student-athletes" they wouldn't have to rely on redshirting players just for them to get an education.

Most of these guys are going to school to play ball

How are they wasting a season?. They get a chance to develop their craft, get stronger and faster without having to waste eligibility.

NFL scouts don't even look at freshman like that. They usually scout for one draft to the next. And they give draft grades every December for the upcoming draft so as a freshman they won't bother looking at them. And if they was highly touted coming out of high school and go to an elite program it's not gonna make a difference.

that's completely false breh

Jameis Winston would've been even more highly regarded in the NFL draft if he left after his first season (and he was just as NFL ready in his first year as he was in his 2nd)

outside of QB's....Nick Chubb would've been drafted in the first 2-3 rounds if he left last year for sure

obviously, some positions are harder to make an impact as a freshman (defensive tackle, etc.) but to say that players aren't NFL ready after their freshman year is false and yes, teams would be willing to spend a 1st rounder on them...shyt, the nikka Cardale played like 4 games last season and there was talk of him being a first rounder if he went pro :pachaha:
