....you buy him out at about, what...$40-$45M (he's got about $54M left on his contract)? Take your losses with the $9-14M you gotta eat. Now he can go wherever he wants - even sign somewhere for the vet minimum, if he wanted to win a title - and you're rid of him.

Seriously, no free agents are coming to NY anytime soon...not only cause there's nobody there to win with, but because nobody wants to play for Phil's dumbass and run that stupid triangle.

So why not just start over NOW? From SCRATCH. Like, that "Martin Lawrence at the DMV" type of "From Scratch". :heh:

First of all, you're NOT going to get established players to come play the damn triangle, B. Like, get real, Phil. So you're gonna need NOBODIES who just want a shot in the NBA and who are therefore more willing to run that bullshyt than, say, a 5-6 year vet who KNOWS that it's outdated and ineffective.

Having grown up going to Knicks games at the Garden, I have a VERY HARD time imagining NYers would tolerate a horrible product on the floor for longer than one season...at which point, they need to clamor harder to get rid of Phil. But it starts with getting rid of Melo...and doesn't a buy out "save face" for everybody?

Because they would want to get something back in return. If they buy him out, there is no guarantee that anyone would even want to sign with them (even if the money is right)

All players know the knicks is a shytshow for new players lol

A couple reasons:

1. It is a bad plan. Melo has no incentive to take any less than his contract, especially given how petty the franchise has been. Why would he want to give the team a break? What about Melo's history leads you to believe he wants to win so badly, he'll leave money on the table?

2. KP likes Melo. Their relationship is something KP has cited as important to him a bunch of times, and the team can't really afford to keep dissing him. And Porzingis is the only thing that matters in the entire franchise right now.

3. They get nothing for him, it eliminates the opportunity to get any kind of return in a trade.

4. A buyout player has to clear waivers. No telling Melo would actually get to go where he wants.

Im not understanding the Martin Dmv reference :patrice:

but why pay to git rid of one of the best scorers in the NBA.

Carmelo is the only thing Knicks fans have to believe in other than Porzingis.

New York needs a Star and thats Melo. They need to get melo help. Just get him a decent pass first point guard who can knock down threes and play defense. Hes not the problem. :manny:

300 murders a year
Melo won't agree to a buyout for anything less than his full contract

Then he signs elsewhere for still a decent amount all while eating up knicks money.

Melo would love nothing more than a buy out

Go to 3:46.

For y'all saying why would he leave money....conversely, why would he want to go through ANOTHER year like last year? So basically y'all are saying he would rather have his money than win, or even compete. They're not winning anytime soon. Their front office is a mess and doesn't look willing to change....you come BACK to that next season instead of taking your chips and dipping? Then that's on HIM at that point, being a glutton for punishment.

It is a bad plan. Melo has no incentive to take any less than his contract, especially given how petty the franchise has been. Why would he want to give the team a break? What about Melo's history leads you to believe he wants to win so badly, he'll leave money on the table?

See what I said above. That's fine if that's the case, but when shyt is MISERABLE next year, then nothing should be said by ANYBODY - him, Phil, NOBODY. You can't bytch and moan and then remain STAGNANT.

THAT'S my point. If the situation has gotten THAT untenable, then you have to make sacrifices to fix it. You can't be greedy and seek a proper resolution. So basically, neither side wants to budge, yet both sides want the bullshyt to stop? :mjlol:

That's why them fools (front office) are screwed up now, their whole "plan" lacks logic.

The problem is no team in the EAST is winning anytime soon other than the Cavs. Lebron has a monopoly on the entire conference.

If not them then Boston.

If Melo doesn't go to cavs or Celtics then there's no reason to leave nyc.

Wait it out in 2-3 years Knicks could be a contender and Lebron and the cavs could be on the decline

Or maybe Lebron could join the Knicks after losing to warriors the next 3 years.

The Knicks will always be the #1 place to be in the East just like the lakers in the west
