If he really wanted to confirm his guilt, he would flee to Bali. There's no coming back from that. He probably feels like he can beat whatever charges will be brought up against him and if he chills for a while, the media frenzy will calm down and he can go back to operating as usual.

i dont think public perception matters at this point. if he could get out of the country and argue his innocence from bali, i imagine he would. but like @Gloxina said, feds have probably told him to keep his ass in the states.
