So they dont have to take the class in college because you have people coming in college having to take remedial math with no credit.

the sooner u realize college is a scam, the better off u'll be.

while college is a scam, i still encourage those who can, to go to one, but make sure it's a community college or a very cheap (non-online) university. get a degree in whatever you're good at. and once u get ur associates or bachelors, make it a point in ur head to consider that the end of all schooling. no masters, no doctorates (unless of course u wish to be a doctor or u are in a field where people's lives are in ur hands).

the goal here is to spend as little money as is humanly possible on college, and from there, focus on starting ur own business, or self-teach urself on the specific things that can earn u money at whatever field u wish to work in.

i got my degree in liberal arts, but i work as a computer programmer. i hated math. i'm not good at it. at all! i can work myself into insanity by trying to be good at math, fail a bunch of courses and waste money in the process. but i decided to just ditch the computer science degree, get a relatively easy degree. then self-teach myself all the programming courses i need to know to get hired in the field i want.

what you just read is worth a lot. ignore it at your own peril!

I went to Corliss, which is by all means, was a terrible high school, but, I went to community college and took math classes before I transferred.

Paying $200+/credit hour just to take remedial math? Nah.

My 1st week of high school algebra, my teacher gave us all T1-81 calculators and told us all of our math will be done on this from now through college and we should familiarize ourselves with it now.

We were never taught to do algebra equations the long way.

Fast forward 4yrs later, me and about 15 of my other classmates are in college algebra together and the professor tells us that we aren't allowed to use calculators and all work must be shown on paper.

We all withdrew and went to remedial math .

But like that and other things, high school left a young 18yr old completely unprepared for life which is why people rely on college so heavily otherwise you're fukked trying to find your way.

Schools (in America at least, can't speak for anywhere else) don't do anything but prepare students for a life of working to make rich people richer.

I like to look of the curriculum of private schools aND compare it to the public institution. In most private schools, the concepts of algebra sprout up in the 5th grade. Depending on what school you're talking about, algebra won't be broached until 10th grade. You're behind five years academically than others. Those five years lead to alot of lost income in the real world.

American schools teach kids how to pass test.
This. Schools stopped teaching you much more than tricks on how to get to the next level. Somehow I was able to
get through High School without talking a calculus class. I still don't know how I pulled that shyt off.

HS is a joke, and college is right behind it.
