Cause he probably wouldn't appeal...Back in them mid 2000s if you was singing, you probably had to be a heartthrob for the ladies, especially since we were all in our late teens to early 20s and women be shallow as hell at that age....AutoTune made him stand out and be unique.

:yeshrug:

Now if this was late 90s r&b he'd be straight...but boy bands and dancing ass nikkas was the wave when he finally came on the scene...so image mattered more.

Epiphany was an underrated album, as was Rappa Turnt Sanga. T-pain is singlehandedly responsible for the modern musical landscape of Hip-Hop & R&B.

His use of autotune is the reason Kanye and Lil Wayne overdosed on it and lead to it becoming an integral part of music. This isn't dismissing Zapp, Roger, and even the Funkadelic movement, just an acknowledgement.

He will never get his due as a musical genius.

Don't quote me.

I forget what T-Pain said exactly, but it was something along the lines of "I never used autotune to fit in, I used it to be unique"
Autotune was never meant to cover his voice, but as an instrument to expand what he can do and stand in his own lane from the millions of traditional singers out there

From my memory he the one that brought it back and was successful with it, then everybody and they favorite rappers start riding his wave.
