Why is 50 Cent looked at as the good guy in his beef with Ja Rule?

From everything I've seen it seems like 50 was desperate to get in the game and was dissing Ja for hype :yeshrug:

50 always claims that the beef started from Ja getting robbed for his chain while Ja says 50 only used that incident as a way to have something to say about him :jbhmm:

50 claims that Preme had him shot because him dissing Ja was fukking their money up but I just don't believe that. The fact of the matter is back when a song like "Your life's on the line" came out not that many people were checking for it.
Even tho Ja was still on the come up back then he was still a much bigger artist than 50 at that point. None of 50's disses back then could do any harm to Ja's career or hurt any of their money coming in. :ehh:

The fact that Preme told him to stop dissing Ja numerous times and 50 would always say he would stop and then go drop another diss track, combined with the fact that he did not show up to the meeting Preme had set up for them to squash the beef makes me think 50 got himself into a terrible situation. :francis:

I just honestly think 50 underestimated how much Preme had Murder Inc's back :wow:

My fault for the long post, just an opinion I've always had for a long time. I fukks with 50 and I appreciate his contributions to the game, but Rule was a legend in his own right that had everything he worked for destroyed over some bullshyt.

How is 50 looked at as the good guy and Rule looked at as the villain when 50 was the one who started the beef and Rule tried to squash the beef with 50 several times? shyt ain't right to me. :manny:

The culture had a completely different set of values back then. In particular, street credibility was held at a much higher level then it is today, while singing and coming off emotional was viewed as a taboo, for a rapper that is.

With that being said, during the 99-2000 era of the beef, Ja Rule was perceived completely different from how he was perceived later on in 02-03, which is why 50 attacks had no effect on Ja in 99. Far as the culture was concerned, they were both hardcore NY rappers beefing. It wasn't until later that 50 was able to manipulate the narrative due to the major changes in how Ja was perceived by the culture and the growing street buzz with 50.

In 02, Ja's style and music had evolved to a place that made him more successful, commercially speaking, but at the same time it polarized him with the purest and with the streets. And to make matters worse, his music was over-exposed due to his hit singles being played non-stop on radio/tv which strained his presence greatly. By the time 50 came back around in 02, he was basically saying what everybody else was already feeling in regards to Ja being soft and not "hood" enough.

Throw in a tale about how Ja&Murder Inc were frauds who only acted tough because of who was backing them. And then imply that you got shot/back balled because they ran to the dude(s) backing them for protection like cowards due to you constantly harassing them for even thinking they had clout like that in the streets, and viola, its done! You have successfully crafted a pretty interesting story-line. Your enemies are portrayed as the chicken shyt heels and you the baby face. And tbh, it was genius. Most 50 stans in the booth still view 50 thru this manufactured lens despite all the hard evidence on the contrary.

Cuz Ja was doing all that damn singing and duets, doing pop music like a Bad Boy artist on steroids. The streets were FIENDING for some quality street music. Her comes Curtis to fill the void and clown Ja at the same time.

The only irony of it all is 50 basically turned into Ja after GRODT.

There is def truth to Ja doing a lot of singing. In my opinion several factors play into this:

1. Irv Gotti got greedy and realized the females liked those songs and that those kinds of songs would reach a broader audience than typical street shyt.

2. When Rule did make a street song it was not promoted heavily (This is exactly what hurt the careers of guys like Tah Murda and Black Child).

3. Also for some reason when Rule did music about street shyt the DMX comparisons (Which always made no sense) would start to arise. So Ja may have felt doing songs for the ladies would be a way to avoid such comparisons.

4. Ja admits he was on Ecstasy pretty heavy at the height of his popularity. I've heard that ecstasy is known to cause very deep depression. If you listen to "Rule 3:36" and compare it to "Pain is Love" you can see the difference. Rule 3:36 is upbeat, relentless type shyt while Pain is Love has a very sad, slow feel to it. I could be totally wrong on this point, just my opinion tho.

At the same time tho I would rather listen to a track like "Always on Time" or "Thug Lovin" than Candy Shop or Best Friend from Fif :dead:

Right place right time. The public was sick of that ja rule and Ashanti being almost everywhere. The Feds case fukked over murder inc. 50 cent having the perfect and rare storyline to appeal to the streets and interscope sealed the deal.
