Why is 50 Cent looked at as the good guy in his beef with Ja Rule?

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
JA BECAME CORNY, HIS CORNY SONGS WERE EVERYWHERE
AND PPL WERE LOOKING FOR ANYONE TO TAKE HIM OUT.

50 STEPPED UP AND THE PPL GRAVITATED TO HIM...

It wasn't that his songs were corny.. they were too polarizing. Ja basically put himself in a bind. He couldn't switch it up to strictly street and he couldn't keep putting out songs with Ashanti cameos.

50 simply got lucky.

1. Ja Rule had ran the same formula too many times.
2. The feds had surrounded Murder Inc. and basically destroyed them.
3. Dr Dre gave 50 Cent beats that were going to be on his OWN album.
4. 50 basically rode Em's coattails.
Almost half of 50's album was recorded before he got signed by Em and Dre. He signed a million dollar deal, EVERY label wanted to sign him. That's not luck, he had a huge buzz:heh:

The culture had a completely different set of values back then. In particular, street credibility was held at a much higher level then it is today, while singing and coming off emotional was viewed as a taboo, for a rapper that is.

With that being said, during the 99-2000 era of the beef, Ja Rule was perceived completely different from how he was perceived later on in 02-03, which is why 50 attacks had no effect on Ja in 99. Far as the culture was concerned, they were both hardcore NY rappers beefing. It wasn't until later that 50 was able to manipulate the narrative due to the major changes in how Ja was perceived by culture.

In 02, Ja's style and music had evolved to a place that made him more successful, commercially speaking, but at the same time it polarized him with the purest and with the streets. And to make matters worse, his music was over-exposed due to his hit singles being played non-stop on radio/tv which strained his presence greatly. By the time 50 came back around in 02, he was basically saying what everybody else was already feeling in regards to Ja being soft and not "hood" enough.

Throw in a tale about how Ja&Murder Inc were frauds who only acted tough because of who was backing them. And then imply that you got shot/back balled because they ran to the dude(s) backing them for protection like cowards due to you constantly harassing them for even thinking they had clout like that in the streets, and viola, its done! You have successfully crafted a pretty interesting story-line. Your enemies are portrayed as the chicken shyt heels and you the baby face. And tbh, it was genius. Most 50 stans in the booth still view 50 thru this manufactured lens despite all the hard evidence on the contrary.
You know something I don't understand tho? Even after everything Rule went through he still bounced back hard AF with that R.U.L.E Album. Tracks like "New York", "Wonderful", "Caught Up", "Passion" etc were all flames. New York and Wonderful are still anthems till this day, classics now. Why didn't Ja just stay consistent from that point on?

All he had to do was continue dropping bangers and he woulda been good. But for some reason he faded out of the light once again, Why? Apart from the beef with 50 and the Feds hurting him he has also had problems being consistent with music.

Because not only was his business life falling apart, he was having (allegedly)financial problems and marriage problems (Karrine Steffans outed him in her book)

Looking back on it. Ja Rule shouldn't have even responded to 50, since he was the bigger artist at the time. On some ole "the lion doesn't turn around when the small dog barks" type stuff. Well he shouldn't have made a whole song about it. Even though I thought 'clap back' was a good song. In fact Ja Rule should trade mark that song, because the phrase 'clap back' is still used today. Jay only gave one line dedicated to 50, "I'm about dollars, who the fukk is 50 cent?" that's it, the only reason I remember that was because I was watching 50's "Behind the Music" it was mentioned on there. 50 said the line gave him some press. Off topic, VH1 needs to bring back "Behind the Music' that was one of the best documentary shows, that and "Famous Crime Scene" <- that Selena episode gave me chills, she got killed on some final destination type aim.

Ja wasn't able to capitalize on the decently measurable, regained successes of R.U.L.E due to the feds tampering. In the wake of that album, Murder Inc lost def jam. However, Ja was still attached to Murder Inc, so all the future management decisions regarding funding was still Irv's responsibility. In other words, despite being dropped by Def Jam, it wasn't like Ja was a free agent who could just jump to another label and continue to release music. A whole process had to be carried out to move the ENTIRE murder inc label. Because of that, the crucial period of 2005-2006 were Ja needed to take advantage of the substantial buzz built by R.U.L.E was spent on hunting for a new parent company.

Eventually they landed at universal but by then it was too late. Kids who were freshmen in HS when R.U.L.E dropped where now graduating. Anything that got restored by R.U.L.E was gone. And even worse, the feds were still fukking with Murder Inc. According to Irv, they didn't get proper funding for projects on universal due to the feds persuading them not to do business with Gotti. At this point, probably due to being fed the fukk up with the feds, Gotti kinda left the music business and Ja practically had no value left as a profitable artist, so he resorted to creating his own music label, Mpire. The Single with Wayne was dropped under that label.
