Because the suburbs is viewed as generally safe. The suburban kid is seen as having a better life.

And because people SEE it this way, they see the suburban kid's actions as wasting their parents' hard work and throwing away opportunities.

Kids in the hood are not seen as having come from good households therefore they have an "excuse" and are not called corny.

I thought that was pretty obviously why.

The suburbs
Suburbs more opportunities compared to the hood, but i do agree it should be considered corny regardless, outside of dysfunctional destitute houses.
Some of these suburbs be a less than 10 minute drive from the hood which is a big reason why I disagree. I also think if you live in the hood in a major city that no opportunity excuse they use is bs. A hood nicca in LA/Bay Area/Dallas/ATL/NYC has access to more things than a suburb kid in Missouri

So basically perception matters more than reality.

It's not just the home, it's the environment. You can have Christian parents, but if the moment you step out your door, you're surrounded by violence, drugs, sex, and crime, that's extra stress on a youth. Peer pressure is real. If all of your peers are doing something, and you dont want to he labeled an outcast, you tend to follow the crowd.

If you come from suburban home, you tend to not have to deal with those things I mentioned or the shytty people who play negative influence. There are very few OGs around trying to get kids into the steet life in the burbs.

At the end of the day, both have choices and can choose to say no to steet life. But for the boy growing up in the hood, the consequences are more likely to be negative from his environment. I've heard the :nerdy ass nicca, think he better than everybody," just because one doesn’t choose to get high or hang on the block.

In the hood if you get that "soft" label, your peers will fuk with (aka bully) you. While bullying occurs in the burbs, it's different than the hood (often less hands on).

What I think is super corny is for kids to grew up in the burbs, in a good environment, and chose the street life as an adult (looking at you Chris Brown and Kyrie Irving for deciding to become a bloods after you become rich and famous).

don't know if I would say"most" and what makes a household "good" in your eyes?

if you live in the hood getting caught up in the hood is a very real if not likely outcome
