Thinking about FUBU, Karl Kani, Cross Colours, Dada, Phat Farm, ENYCE, Iceberg, Avirex, Sean John, Rocawear ect. they all had pretty much the same 2 maybe 3 year run...then they end up :flabbynsick: status. Meanwhile Polo, Timberland, Levis and the like have all been around forever and their run is still going strong. Hell even USPA is eating better than Rocawear right now.:mindblown:

I think it's more of a black cultural thing than anything else. Some people get on the latest fashion trend and the current trend immediately becomes lame and old. Just like people check for the newest/hottest rappers and the other ones get thrown to the side. It's all about the newest or youthful catchy thing.

Plus it doesn't help that these new rappers often create new trends so it speeds up the process of killing the old trend.

PJ's to the Burbs
The style of clothes those brands had were more like fads. Polo, Timberland, etc make plain, high quality clothing that will never get "played out".
exactly, i have so polos that might be older than a few posters, shyts still look crisp andnot dated. Classic looks is classic looks, I would love to support alot of designers but sum of they stuff is hot but only for now. Shyt the only thing I got thats say early millenium is a "No Bytchassednes" shirt i like to rock when playing poker

some of the companies you listed are synonymous with certain clothing items.

like levis are synonymous with jeans the way kleenex is synonymous with tissue paper or hefty is synonymous with trash bags.

the downfall of those brands imo were that they didn't evolve around changes in black fashion, so much that they became the symbols of a certain era that people simply left behind.

i feel like fubu and karl kani could have resurgence in today's times as sort of a "retro urban brand" if they came out with some simple pieces and associated themselves with the right music artist.

i bought this and the old heads at my barber shop was like :whoo:
