Why is it not respectable to be a rapper from the suburbs?

Why do people believe that you're ability to make good music and rap have a direct correlation with how "hood" you are or where you lived, or how much money u had?

As long as they are being themselves why wouldn't we support? Every time a rapper who doesn't come from the projects tries to come out, his credibility is constantly attacked. :yeshrug:

Why should the amount of money you had when you were raised or born limit your options in life for what you want to pursue?

People that come from the hood, rap about what they went through growing up in the hood.
Someone from the suburbs probably wouldn't have much to rap about that was interesting.

I could be wrong though, because I don't listen to rap.
I completely agree, but I feel like we don't allow people the chance.

I know suburb rappers. And a lot of em had great material, talking about relateable things that we all go through. I think it's bad to assume growing up in the burbs Yet, people would rather listen to some street ish they can't relate to anyway.

Even half of the streets do not really talk about anything they went through. It's just braggadocious rap really with death threats.

I find it sad a nikka like Talib Kweli will never get real respect.

People from the burbs are corny in general, rappers are no different
I'd beg to differ breh.

I know nikkas on both sides. Im from the burbs. Not spekaing for myself just dudes around me. Theres hella corny street or hood nikkas too. Ppl are corny by nature.

Nikkas just are more accepting of the corniness if you been through hard shyt in life.

Depends on the rapper, if you grew up in burbs and then you take the image from a real life kingpin, while you were really a co and then lined about it thats corny. If your Asher Roth and you stay in your lane, nothing wrong with being from burbs.
It's acceptable as long as they don't act out of character and try to emulate people who come from those environments which is an epidemic with alot of rap artist from the suburbs today ..

But who breh? I cant think of one rapper who does this.

Most of the dudes frontin just are dudes who came up from nothing too. Rick Ross, etc etc.

Not about where you're from. Its about keeping shyt 100% real.

A lot of these dudes from the suburbs try to put on this facade like they're criminals or like they went through all these struggles. Nobody wants to hear that fake shyt.

i can't think of any rappers from the suburbs off the top of my head. But if a rapper from the suburbs came out with trill subject matter that i liked? i would have no problem supporting.

no one cares nowadays

People do care. With all the outlets these days, everyday someone is "exposed". or is questioned about who they are,.
because 90% of them rap about a life they never lived

free gucci

Ok I can see that. But did the egg come first or the chicken u dig? Do people front because if they are their true selves yall would call em lame or boring?
