Why is it so hard for folks to admit that they don't like Kobe which is why they rank him so low?

For example, I am very well aware of my hatred for the white golden boy QBs in the NFL. All my life I've rooted against Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers. Trying to give any of them their proper due pretty much disgusted me. And I'm pretty comfortable with this knowledge which is why I never pretend that this bias I have doesn't affect how I rate them as players.

Why don't the Kobe haters admit as much? If you don't like him, just say you don't like him and you'll use whatever you can to diminish his standing in the game (not because you truly feel his game is flawed or deficient) but rather because you just don't like the guy and giving him his proper due disgusts you.

I hate the fact so many people lie about being objective.

People hated him because he was crowned as the next Jordan but with a tendency to shoot you out of games. The argument was that he took way too many shots and tough shots in general. He was shooting no matter if he was hot or cold even though he wasn't a pure shooter. You want to get a feel for Kobe's game take a look at DeMar DeRozan but with a 3. Obviously he was an all-time great because of some other qualities but the argument in basketball for the all time list has always weighted heavily towards efficiency. There was even a point in time in the early 2000s where TMac and VC had reached a very high peak and was going toe to toe with Kobe.

Your right breh he should of relied more on Ronnie turiaf, Jordan farmer, smush Parker and the scoring machine Robert sacre rather than actually trying to win games

He was a primary playmaker of all 5 of his championship teams, lol at DeRozan comparison

I'm generalizing his game based on his whole career. Kobe just had the mentality that he was going to go after you on offense and suffered from some poor decision making at times. He wasn't known for passing the ball. I guess you can blame coaching?

This is exactly what it is. People hate him for whatever reason and they bring that into his ability as a hooper.

The first wave of people aint like him cause he was a threat to the idea of MJ (he was the closest thing to Jordan we've ever seen). Then the next wave hit and they said he was riding shaq's coat tails. He got two more rings.

Now we in the stats era and everybody wants to act like he's not up there with the best of them in regards to stats.

I've never heard anybody talk about his high IQ of the game. Never heard anybody mention that he was one of the top defenders in the league.

The same reason why all these nerds are putting him so low in the goat list is the same reason he got one MVP.
Kobe...ONE MVP????? :comeon:

Or maybe they think that there are other players better than him :yeshrug:

People are letting personal bias cloud their judgement when it comes to player rankings. The majority of people have never seen some of the guys ranked of Kobe play a game, so how can you justifiably say that he’s better than those guys or not.

Kobe only really deserved it in 08. Maybe 06. Those are the only two years you could give it to him. He didnt deserve it over dirk in 07 or bron in 09/10.

Like I said. Just say you don't like him. This "efficiency" argument is just a cover. Kobe's TS% was essentially the same as Jordan for nearly his entire career until he blew out his achilles.

And more importantly, if Kobe shot you outta games, don't you think Lakers fans would be the ones most critical of him? I mean they are rooting for their team to win. If Kobe's style was so detrimental to their chances of winning wouldn't we hear it from them moreso than opposing fans? Also, wouldn't opposing fans love playing against Kobe's teams if he was this inefficient guy who shot you out of games? But we both know the opposite was true. Kobe was the one player opposing fans feared the most.

Once again, stop lying to yourself. Just say you don't like him and that's why you are incapable of giving him any credit. Your argument here lacks any reason.

I was one of these people.

First time I heard of Kobe Bryant was at the 98 all-star game. I just got into basketball that previous year during the 97 playoffs. I was 9 years old and Jordan was my favorite player. I saw the media crowning some 19 year old kid who didn't even start for his own team as the next Jordan and instantly started hating on him.

I have no idea when I became a Kobe fan but I do know I did start out as a hater for the exact reason you mentioned.
