I was told by Mexicans that limes were put on beers to keep flys from going in the bottle when drinking outside in Mexico. Take a sip and put the lime back on. White people made it a thing apparently and Mexicans laugh when they see people do it like it’s special or some shyt.

because its been marketed that way. lime is alway popular with tequila which is also a Mexican thing as well as limes on tacos.
