We throw millions of dollars at it + sponsor events.

We make a public spectacle of it at work.

So many other notable causes but this literally takes the cake annually in terms of spend

"Gras" = Fat

"Mardi Gras" = Fat Tuesday. It's called that because it's the day where
people get fat by customarily eating all they want (or nowadays doing whatever they want a lot) before Ash Wednesday, which is the beginning of Lent Season - where people fast or give up something they enjoy.

Mardi Gras basically means at least two weeks of activities including parades (multiple per day on a given day), balls, galas, smaller festivals held within neighborhoods, increased music performances outside of the typical club/music venue settings along with increased activity in existing locations

Economically, there’s a lot that goes on during Mardi Gras. Add those formerly mention advantages to a pot with increased tourism which the usual amount of time people spend is at least 3-4 days, in groups of individuals (at least 3 people).

I mean, that’s a basic economic scope of what happens when Mardi Gras comes around...
