Why is my Sprints 3g speed faster than 4G Lte?

I live in Chicago, I have Sprint, my speeds are fine, I streamed Game 6 of the WCFs on my phone while on Sprint's LTE when I was at a grad party for my nephew (was at a rec center, no TV, didn't even need anyway wifi), didn't buffer once, played straight through, when I go to the gym, I stream SoundCloud the entire time, no problems...

I just got back from New Orleans as well, had LTE the entire time I was downtown basically. Yeah I know other providers have faster speeds, but I'm a happy customer right now. And my phone is over 2 years old.

Not only is it slower, but its very spotty in some areas.

Whether it was the iPhone or GNexus I had on sprint...it will dip in and out of 3G and LTE almost constantly...leaving me "offline" all the damn time. I said enough of this BS already...time to throw them in the bushes for good.

Depends on where you live.

Yall nikkas gotta get off this narrative that one service is trash everywhere. Sure Sprint isn't the best, but its VERY much location dependent.
For MOST places Sprint is the absolute worst that I have used up and down the east coast and through the midwest.

shyt shows great coverage on their shytty ass map and still spotty as fukk.

And there are places where its good and other services aren't so good.

There is no clear cut choice for everyone. It varies where you live, building density, foilage etc etc

:dahell: Shut is nuts. Takes over a minute to load a page with 4G on and 10 secs with 3g on. I gotta turn Lte off to do any surfing, then back on again to watch a movie.

Got a year and a half more then i'm just gonna pay the 20 bucks more for Verizon

I bit the bullet and upgraded to an iphone 5s with sprint, the LTE is way more consistent than with my EVO 4G, and now in the past week I'm finally getting really good LTE (still not as good as verizon) due to them upgrading their cell towers. Sprint's quality is really dependent on where you live though.

ever since LTE was deployed out here last year I believe, I been :eat: off sprint.

their 3G service was :trash: tho. but if u on the LTE, u :eat: these days. since both my work phone and cell phone are sprint, I routinely use my personal phone to make conference calls since it's typically closer to me and I have unlimited everything. I NEVER have issues to calls dropping from either of my sprint phones. however, I do 99% of my phone calls from my house, so maybe I am in a good coverage area.
I'm out here and joliet, my service is real hit it miss

But if I'm out by chicago ridge or oak lawn it's LTE day

What's funny is Sprint service for me works in the oddest places. Mid-tunnel on the train, in basements of colleges, so on and so forth. I've simply entered a restaurant and lost signal but in the bathroom I magically have signal.

Word.

But for Chicago and the South Burbs, where I stay, it gets the job done. I can catch the train from my house to downtown and have a consistent signal the entire time. And like I said, I just came back from New Orleans and had an LTE signal as soon as I touched down and took my phone off airplane mode.

Not sure how accurate this is but I read this article a few days ago in regards to Sprint merging with TMobile.

T-Mobile merger with Sprint looks more likely as Softbank and Deutsche Telekom agree on sale | Windows Phone Central

Softbank is making an end-run around concerns about a merger of Sprint and T-Mobile US by instead hitting up T-Mobile's parent company Deutsche Telekom. As reported by Japanese news agency Kyodo, Japan-based Softbank has entered into an agreement with Germany-based Deutsche Telekom to buy the latter's ownership stake in US carrier T-Mobile. The US Federal Communications Commission and Department of Justice have expressed their concerns about the potential for such consolidation in the US cellular market, and the move by Softbank would likely end up still being heavily scrutinized.

The end result (a Sprint/T-Mobile merger) would likely still be the same, though this move might bring the two companies as separate entities under the same umbrella corporation first. Softbank bought Sprint last year for $21.6 billion, and they've been vocal about their desire to also buy T-Mobile. Sprint, too, has been pursuing T-Mobile, though it's more likely that Softbank's even deeper pockets would be better suited to such an acquisition.

We don't have any indication right now of how much the deal may end up costing Softbank (estimates range up to $50 billion), though T-Deutsche Telekom's 67% stake in T-Mobile US. When AT&T attempted to buy T-Mobile and was shot down in 2011, the purchase prices was set at a whopping $39 billion. T-Mobile of 2011 was a radically different company than T-Mobile of today. A good portion of T-Mobile's success today actually comes thanks to the failure of that acquisition, which garnered T-Mobile a multi-billion-dollar break-up fee from AT&T, as well as the spectrum needed to enhance their network.

Deutsche Telekom has expressed interest in the past in unloading their share of T-Mobile US, much like last year's massive sale of Vodafone's stake in Verizon Wireless to Verizon. With Deutsche Telekom wanting out of the US, and Softbank wanting to expand rapidly in the US, it seems all but inevitable that T-Mobile will trade hands. But will such a sale and merger be good for US consumers, and what will happen to the Uncarrier in the process?
