If the product is really as good as the seller claims he wouldn't need to constantly persuade someone into buying it

Accidentally dapped but undapped because this is a silly argument.

The real answer is that it when people think of salesman they think of 1) someone trying to get over on you and/or 2) someone who has to travel all day just to beg/cajole for a living. People would rather visualize themselves in the corner office running meetings and firing off directives to staff.

The irony is that many of the best CEOs and industry leaders came up through sales.

I'm not sure who looks down on sales unless it's some stuck up whiteys. If you're good at selling you always got a great source of income. shyt you'd rather get commission vs having a set salary. You control your earning potential.

Pharmaceutical sales man they cake like crazy.

the reason pharmaceutical sales make so much money is simply because they are legal drug dealers. the product sells itself.

Used to sell cars for a few months back in 2008. Probably the worst time to start with the recesssion and all because the impact was immediately felt. For a hot minute I was consistently selling 3-4 cars per week after I adjusted and got comfortable with the nature of the work I was doing. It actually made me feel like a boss, but shyt dried up fast.; long cold days of sipping coffee waiting for a customer and then damn near coming to blows for that 1 customer.

Closet I ever came to having a hustling mentality. Wish I knew how to tap into that shyt

Im self motivated, a great communicator and goal oriented but straight up having that "It" factor to make a lucrative and consistent living selling anything is something I feel I lack.

Na. Real talk Pharma sales is pretty difficult. You not only need to be able to sell and influence but you need to learn very detailed medication information. It requires the sales reps to do alot of studying as you need to be able to hold your own when talking to doctors.

Basically, the more complicated the item being sold the more the sales folks likely get paid. Its why enterprise sales reps make really good money.

It can be learned. There are many sales courses out there. But it requires practice. Not all sales reps are naturals.

I was kinda joking when I said that. personally, I wouldn't be good at selling shyt. I had one job in my life that kinda involved sales, and I was struggling to meet our meager quotas.

damn. Yea people who are naturals can make serious serious money. Sales is helpful in any career really even if not sales specifically. But i know some sales reps that arent naturals but they worked really hard and studied sales techniques and public speaking and read books about how to influence people and have had success. its like anything else. Got to put in the work. But it definitely isnt for everyone. I never thought i would end up in sales tbh but somehow i did and and was the best choice i ever made.

Selling teaches you probably a lot of the most important life skills. Everybody should work at least some months in sales, it boosts your social skills and helps you get over social anxiety
