Why isn't the media calling Russell Westbrook the favorite for MVP?

baby, that was the old me
Based off what? Curry is like 10x the scorer that Westbrook is.

Westbrook is a better on-ball defender but he's not a great defender either. I think people see his motor and athletic ability so they assume he's a better defender than he is.

Westbrook is a better rebounder but the difference in their scoring is huge.

2010 was the only year of his prime where he wasnt the clearcut best player on his team and it was also the last year. The other years his squad wasnt good enough.
Which is why how we determine who the MVP is, is so flawed.

Wade's 2006 regular season stats were solid, and he pretty much separated himself from Shaq statistically. He was clear cut best player on a Heat team that won 50+ games.. He averaged 27pts/6ast/5rebs on 49% from the field. He technically could've won MVP in 2006, just based on stats and record.

Dirk was better than Wade in the 06 regular season and won more games.

Of course it is but we can't act brand new about this. If Wilt can put up 50 per and Big O can avg. a triple double in the same season and neither of them win (plenty of other ATG seasons that didn't win mind you) I don't see how a "solid" season warrants a :mjcry:. They need to have an offensive player of the year award. Wade wins that for sure in 08.

He won't win until he is more "humble" in the eyes of the media.

After the whole snub of T.O. I have really been looking at the whole process of the media voting on these things lately. They vote for whoever they like first.

They jump through all sorts of hoops to justify their position.
Yeah, that video of Gary Meyers trying to explain why a room full of journalists/reporters felt justified in using likeability as a legit criteria going against T.O. - and the MAIN reason why, collectively, they didn't or "couldn't" vote for him - was pretty damn obnoxious.
