North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
The era he played in solidifies him as the GOAT. Why? Because in the 80's teams, more importantly defenses, stayed together. There wasn't as much player movement has it's been over the last 20 years. Free Agency and Salary Cap really started in the early 90's. And there wasn't the protections for QB's as there are today. Brady had the luxury of playing in a trash division for most of his career. Mahomes got blown out in the super bowl twice. Manning got blown out in the Super Bowl as well. The Cowboys may have very well challenged him, had he not got hurt and lost his job, but realistically, a healthy Montana could've added 1 or 2 more titles to his resume. He had to deal with the the Bears, Giants and Philly defenses every year. That should mean something. The past 20 years has basically been about stats which has been spearheaded by a bunch of rule changes.

How does this help your point?

It literally ruins your argument bozo :stopitslime:

Montana didnt have to worry about his super bowl teams losing key players in free agency

So he was able to choke and play like shyt 3 years in a row in 85, 86, and 87 and not have to worry about wasting valuable years since his team would be intact and run it back.

Most QBs nowadays dont get that luxury

When you combine the fact that there weren't as many rules protecting offenses... AND opposing defenses saying together, how you don't see how that would be harder is a you problem. Marino only made it once early in his career and never made it back in the 80's or 90's. So just getting to the Super Bowl was harder.

Everyone played under the same rules.

When you have the great team .Montana did, its easier to keep them together.

If you had mid teams like Marino in the late 80s onwards or Elway before the mid 90s, it would be harder to improve them

We can talk about the rule changes to help QBs like Brady extend their careers if we want but there's one thing that's missing. Brady was likely on HGH and when that comes out, Montana will be solidified once again.

I put up the fight for years my friend, but you just gotta accept that Brady is the GOAT :yeshrug:

I mean looking back he really carried a fraud coach to 7 chips :hubie:

How many did his defense carry him to? :mjlol:
Like come on. The "Tuck Rule" gave him one. Pete Carroll gave him another. A stacked Tampa Defense gave him another.
He went 16-0 and lost in the super bowl to a 10-6 wildcard team it beat in the regular season. Greatest offense of all time and only scored 14 points.
Then there's spy gate and deflate gate.

Can't really compare post-ACL Brady because the rules changed so much. Brady would have been great in the 80s because accuracy, processing ability etc., can apply in any era. Tom would have retired at 35 though. Definitely wouldn't have lasted into his 40s playing 80s ball.

Joe = Tom

Joe had tougher competition getting out of the NFC but he played on a consistently stacked squad. Balances out.
