My theory on this is that it's defective millennial socialisation.
most of these millennials are people who have no real life experience with the world at large, and are cut off from anyone different than them through privilege and/or their crippling social awkwardness. they're uninterested in hearing or experiencing anything that disagrees with their pre-formed world view in case they get 'triggered', and, as such, can't listen to others or process objective experience to form a realistic. measured opinion of the world. frustratingly, they all claim to be 'educated'.
I'd guess at least 90% of millennials understanding of the world is formed via the pure dramatic fantasy of entertainment media.they're relentless consumers of movies, tv shows, games, music and clickbait - to the degree that they can easily make doublethink excuses for why stealing it all online doesn't make them a bad person.
and I say this as a millennial: I fukking hate millennials. arguably the WOAT generation
