I think it might be demographics a bit too; NBA draws more talent from the big cities/coasts, while NFL players are more Southern/country

Interesting topic.:ehh:

Some of it is due to sheer numbers...
There are what, 1500 players (give or take) in the NFL total?
More people equals more fukkery.

The NBA has about 450, with 20 or 30 players getting drafted or shuffled through the NBA and other leagues (D-League, Euroleague, etc) every season.
And since there are so few spots in basketball and all 12-15 are under a media microscope, you have waaaayy less room for fukkery. And with the NBA being the leader of social media/league integration, one incident rumor will be blown up within an hour.
One slip up, and you can be gone.

And the NFL markets teams rather than individuals, so the 7th string WR that got a DUI won't get as much pub as the 8th man on an NBA team that gets interviewed every night getting caught saying "f**k feminists" on someone's camera phone.

I have more theories, but they'll fill a damn page.
I might add some more later. :manny:

Another theory:

That aggression factor.

While it can help to be hyper-aggressive or a bit wild in basketball (Vernon Maxwell and Rodman come to mind, respectively) and that play style can keep you in the league as long as your body can hold up... But for the majority of football players outside of a few positions (e.g., QBs and kickers) hyper-aggresion is necessary to get in the NFL, much less stay in it and be successful.

And no matter which sport, a lot of hyper-aggressive folks have trouble turning it off when the game is over. Those are the ones getting into multiple DV disputes, bar fights, etc. That emotion has to go somewhere.:manny:

And for football, a homie of mine who played football in college told me this "You need to have a screw or two loose to play this game." A lot of these dudes would be doing something else violent for money. Boxing, MMA, bouncer at a club...

If they were born in a different era, they'd be :krs: status to have they opportunity to fight a lion with a scimitar in the Parthenon for glory, money, and p*ssy.
A basketball player might be like "How much money, glory and p*ssy are we talking? Rich like the Emperor, people screaming my name in the streets, neck-deep...?:patrice: I need specifics."
