Why not use Afro American instead of African American?

I was thinking about it, look at our brothers in the southern hemisphere they go by afro latinos or afro brazilian

I'm just asking because I feel like Afro American would make more sense and would eliminate a lot of the bullshyt semantics yt ppl and other non blacks try to play when they use/say African American

Because we were (at some point) from Africa and are now one of the largest ethnic groups of blacks from the motherland.
