Yo, what the fukk are you talking about?? The game was backed in less than fukking 12 hours... that was the interest shown right frigging there. :mindblown: How can it be false hype when people voted with.. their WALLET?? False hype would be people NOT funding it amirite?? As far as innovation, it's not looking to reinvent the wheel, it wants to finish a frigging story.

Sony's on board AFTER seeing so many people interested in it and fully partnered up.

Man, where the hell did you even come up with this idea of it being cancelled?? shyt makes no damn sense. You dudes say the dumbest things on here my goodness.

Like I said. It was backed by E3/Sony hype. There is plenty of interest and fans that want to see the end of the story but people seem to want to ignore why the game has been in dev hell for so long. When I say false hype i mean hype that was backed by a major corporation for a kick starter project that got a E3 main stage announcement.

Give a My Little Pony game that type of treatment and it will do numbers too. There are plenty of games out there that never got to finish their story.

Sony was already on board... They just wanted to see if the franchise could still garner some interest and hype to fully support it.

I came up with the idea of it being canceled because Shenmue 3 has been in "development" for 11 years. And was canceled multiple times in the process.
.first of my nikka you dont know how large shenmues budget will be especially now that Suzuki has both sony and the publics financial backing

.second you clearly dont know how innovation works if you think large budget = quality innovation, it aint about how much you have its about how creatively you use it

.lastly shenmue about to reach 3 million dollars worth of donations from the public in two days after a decade in limbo, the game is obviously still relevant and will be for a very long time

I know if it needed a kickstarter it wont be on the levels of the 1st game. The fact that Sony wanted to gauge a kickstarter effort before they would even back Shenmue shows me the type of confidence and lack of risk they want to take with the franchise.

I never once said budget=innovation. But lets not act like a large budget does not allow a studio to be innovative.

I'm not saying Shenmue doesn't have support. But using E3 hype to gauge that support is a bit misleading.

This ain't my first E3 and I've seen enough games announced only never to see the light of day time and time again.

Shenmue was a great game and a monument of its time and its nice that they are going back into development for the last chapter. But Shenmue 3 has been in this spot before and the game ended up being canceled. :yeshrug:

This is one of the reason I'm excited for a new one. They can make so many improvements on the older games since its been so long. I'm looking forward to see what he can cook up with all the time in between games.

To me Shenmue is one of those games that was hot when it first came out due to the lack of competition, and it was a first for it's time. I can't question how good the game was because i never played and have i no interest to. Today however with the concept being better understood i have a feeling it's just going to end up being over-hype due to competition outshining it.

That put your money where your mouth is tactic tho:banderas:
i really cant stand you 90s kids, how do you know what was competition in the shenmue era?
