New owner here and I'm happy :mjcry:

Slight learning curve but imma come around .

Any must haves for a new MacBook pro owner ?

Memory Clean - is a nice app that frees up memory if your mac should ever get bogged down.

X11, Wine and CrossOver - are some app that should help you easy into Mac OS X fully. these apps let you run some Windows apps natively on OS X

App Cleaner - to help you remove most file when you want to delete/uninstall an application

App Trap - runs in the background and associates plist, (program files that usually remain after a app is deleted/uninstalled), and identifies and prompts you to delete the files them when you delete/uninstall an application.

CCleaner for Mac

7zX, The Unarchiver - For Archive/ compressed files

MPlayer X - Similar to VLC but it works better on Mac IMHO

Had Macs for 10 years now, never had a virus, and I download from some dodgy sites.

I cosign all of these expect Memory Clean. With the newer operating systems, apps like Memory Clean defeat the purpose of caching.

I had one for a few years went back to windows but learned that you can't buy one of those 200-400 dollar windows laptops you need a more expensive one and it still doesn't run as good as an mbp....but if you aren't into music or designing and just need a computer for Internet, office, and downloading music there are some nice cheaper computers.

This. I stopped copping those $200 joints and copped a $1000 one (at least that's what the price is now. I paid $700). I rocked with my girl's mac for a few months. Very nice laptop. But there are some things about the Mac OS that I just couldn't rock with. It's easy to use, but restrictive too.

I was looking at top of the line laptops and the specs ares superior to similar priced macs. One thing though that apple has going for it is the compatibility with their other products and that's why folk will shell out the cash. If you got a ipad and a iphone you're going to want to get a macbook.

I would love a macbook pro but $2K+ just isn't worth it IMO if you're not using it for anything other than surfing the net.

I bought a 500 buck lenovo which comes with 1920X1080 Native resolution which is not "Retina" but good enough and 6 GB of ram. Very hard high quality plastic casing which is solid (similar to PVC). Threw in a 90 dollar 256 GB solid state in there and I was set to go :yeshrug:

I got a joint with better specs than that. Just need to add the SSD and I'll be :banderas:

One thing though...in 3 years I'll have to toss this PC in the trash while if I had a Macbook I'd be able to get some money for it. Resale value is pretty good.

I need to see that 13 inch in person man

fukk I don't know what to do..
.I'm ready to order something right now

If screens size is an issue, just cop a big monitor. The 13 inchers have better battery life and are very light. 15 inch macbooks are almost overkill.
