I sold my ps3 like three years ago, and i'm looking to get back into it since i need to play gta v, the last of us and a shyt load of other games I've missed in the last three years. But the console is still expensive as hell :stopitslime:
You would think with ps4 on the market now they would at least lower the price. the fukk is sony playing at?

They will be lowering it it it's probably more so due to the fact that like you said there are more games to play on the ps3 and still games coming....ain't shyt coming this year for ps4 or xbone anyone wants to play as of today.

The Cell processor and the blu-ray player aren't cheap, the PS3 just started turning a profit like three years ago after the billions lost on it so Sony is trying to max their profits on the 3 before dropping the price which I believe they will this year.

Hell, the PS4 is losing $60 per sale (which Sony says should break even with a game sale or camera purchase), so they are in no rush to drop the price on the 3.

You can cop a refurbished ps3 for no more than $130 right now at Gamestop.
It's pretty cheap right now.

The Cell Processor and the blu-ray player aren't

I know that, trust me.... the Cell is a much less expensive/smaller/cheaper to produce chip than what it was in 2006. But compared to the Xenon and the DVD drive thats sitting in the 360, it's still more expensive to produce. They probably can slash the price $50 bucks but Sony is not in the best financial shape right now, so they are going to ride this price point out for a while.

No.
The Cell Processor is tech straight from 2005.
At this point it's really....REALLY cheap to manufacture and mass produce
cell processors.
That's almost a decade of time, and in computer years that's FOREVER.
The same goes for bluray drives which currently only cost like 50 bucks.
They're keeping the price high for one reason
and one reason only and that's because they can and people will
buy it.
The machine isn't nearly as expensive to produce as it used to be, I'm pretty
sure Sony has been breaking even for several years now.

probably still expensive to manufacture. just because the tech is old, doesn't mean it's cheap

the sony blu-ray player(which is great), i bought was originally $120 and i was only lucky to get it for 50 something on the day after black friday. basically you're also getting a great game system for only about 100 bucks more. even with saying that i'm still waiting for it to drop to 150 or below cause i know it's inevitable. i just need to throw one in my bedroom now. i'm suprised they didn't drop it for the christmas season because they would've made a killing off of it. the only reason i think they didn't is because i don't believe there's enough ps4's available yet to warrant a drop in their mind. if you can't sell one system right now you need to have the other one on backup to still make money.
