I just feel like American Idol, all these talent reality shows, really, are just seeds sown from the original Amateur Night. Apollo should be setting new trends these mofos will be biting 50 years from now not vice versa

Tell em. That shyt used to be a show only in the NYC area specifically on channel 4 NBC before it got syndicated. It was way better back in the day. Swore they only put people up there to troll the audience to boo them to get sandman Sims out there. shyt was hilarious. The only way folks didn't get booed off stage was by singing about Jesus even when they couldn't sing. Steve Harvey and Rudy rush were the best hosts.
But that all changed when Disney brought it. shyt got wack. When Monique did it, that's when it was over. They had some tap dancer and were womp womping instead of booing. That was wack. It's never going to be what it was.
